The prosecutors that are hired by the federal government have started to make their voice heard by the common man and the government alike in the recent past and now they want Joey Meek, the person who was friends with the man that was held accountable for the shootings made in the Charleston Church earlier to be tried. They want the trial to occur in the same city where the incident occurred.
Why does the Federal Government want to try Mr. Meek?
The reason is that the committee has urged that Mr. Meek, who is a mere 21 year old man, didn’t tell the federal investigators enough and that he held back information that could possibly make the case of Dylann Roof a little easier to solve. Mr. Roof managed to kill nine church parishioners during June of this year and Meek appears to be hiding some information that could lead to his incarceration.
The motion was filed by Mr. Richardson who is an assistant US Attorney in the last few days where he made evident that he wanted Meek to be tried in Charleston and not Columbia which is 120 miles away from the current city of trial. The main reason behind this request from the AA is that this would allow more family and friends of the victims to attend and witness the trial and this could lead to help in investigation. Richardson further emphasized that he could care less about the comfort of the alleged but he needs to allow as much convenience to the victims’ families as he possibly can.
The matter still needs to get approval from the government but it’s expected that the things are going to go smoothly and the request is going to be granted to Mr. Richardson who is making a very plausible argument. Here’s hoping that after all the trial goes successful.
